This is a long-term investment strategy where investors buy securities and then do not sell them for a long period of time. This is based on the view that investors will receive good rates of return in the long run despite periods of shorter term volatility or decline - and they do not then have to try and ‘time the market’ - actively attempt to buy at low points and sell at high points.
