The phrase 'de-dollarisation' has entered the financial lexicon of late, with many once again predicting the imminent demise of the Dollar as the world's reserve currency. Nothing is new about these predictions, yet many are asking whether this time is perhaps different. Central banks appear to be hoarding as much gold as they can; and developing nations are trading more in local currency. The future of the greenback was debated at this year's annual conference Classic Debate, by two teams of engaging debaters arguing for and against the Dollar.
